Etienne Denoly

Étienne Denoly is a French designer and craftsman of Irish origin, based between Paris and Normandy. His work explores mineral and organic materials for both their structural and sensory qualities, developing objects situated at the boundary between functional furniture and autonomous sculpture. His practice is based on the analysis of vernacular objects and structures, culturally and historically situated forms, particularly those from the cider-making world, linked to his family heritage. He extracts visual and tactile principles from them—proportions, formal details, material qualities—which he reinterprets in reduced and balanced compositions.
